Mickey Smith, FACHE, FACMPE, FHFMA, President SCAMM 2002
Mickey Smith is CEO of Oak Hill Hospital, a 280-bed, acute care teaching hospital located in Brooksville, FL.
Mickey has over forty years of experience in health care administration and consulting. Mickey received a Master of Science in Public Health and a MBA in Finance from the University of Missouri and holds a bachelor’s degree in health systems engineering from Georgia Tech. He has achieved board certification in three disciplines: healthcare executive, medical practice administrator, and financial manager. He has been named a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE) and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA).
As a community activist Mickey currently serves as a board member and Treasurer of Chapters Health System, and as a board member of HPH Hospice, Lifesouth Blood Services, Integral Healthcare ACO, and the Economic Development Authority for Citrus County. He is the immediate past president of Hernando Progress and he is an active member of the Rotary Club of Crystal River and the Hernando County Chamber of Commerce. As a member of the Medical Group Management Association for thirty years, he has served on the national Leadership Development Trainer team and served as Chair of the MGMA Board of Directors. The Association represents 33,000 members who lead 18,000 organizations nationwide in which some 385,000 physicians provide more than 40 percent of the healthcare services delivered in the United States. Prior to his service on the MGMA board, Mickey served as Chair of the South Carolina Medical Group Management Association.
Mickey enjoys three-dimensional sports: flying, fishing, Scuba diving, and sailing. He lives in Crystal River, FL and his wife, Kathy, two daughters and six grandchildren live in the Atlanta area.
